Quick answer

IV therapy delivers fluids, and sometimes vitamins and minerals, straight into a vein through a small catheter. At Careprime, a provider reviews your health history and vital signs before any drip, and a basic rehydration IV usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes.

Is this visit right for you?

Is IV Therapy Right for You?

An IV can help when you’re truly dehydrated and can’t drink enough, but many people do just as well with fluids by mouth. Here’s what patients often say when they call us about a drip.

  • “I’ve had a stomach bug for two days and can’t keep water down”
  • “I worked outside all day and I’m wiped out”
  • “Can I just walk in for an IV”
  • “My friend gets vitamin drips and swears by them”
  • “I’m vegan and my B12 came back low”
  • “I feel tired all the time and don’t know why”
  • “How long does the drip take”
  • “Do I need a doctor’s order first”

Common signs of dehydration

  • Dark yellow urine or peeing less than usual
  • Dry mouth and lips
  • Headache
  • Dizziness when you stand up
  • Muscle cramps
  • Feeling unusually tired or weak

Mild dehydration usually gets better with water or an oral electrolyte drink. If you can’t keep fluids down, come see us.

IV or a glass of water?

IV Fluids vs. Drinking Fluids

Both can rehydrate you. The right choice depends on how sick you are and if you can keep fluids down.

For healthy people who eat and drink normally, extra vitamins by IV haven’t been shown to beat a balanced diet.

Where to go

Clinic IV, Telemedicine or the ER?

Where you should go depends on how sick you feel right now.

Careprime Clinic

Mild to moderate dehydration from a stomach bug, heat or a hard workout, when you’re alert and able to walk in. Also vitamin shots and IV vitamin infusions after a health check.

Telemedicine visit

A video visit can help you decide if you need an IV or if fluids at home are enough. The IV itself needs an in-person visit.

Emergency room / 911

Confusion, fainting, no urine for 8 hours or more, a racing heart, vomiting blood, or a baby or older adult who can’t keep anything down. Call 911 for anyone who is hard to wake.

Before your IV

How We Screen for IV Therapy in Rosharon

A short health check comes first, because IV fluids and high-dose vitamins aren’t safe for everyone.

Health History Review

We ask about heart, kidney and liver problems, pregnancy, allergies and your current medicines. People with heart failure or kidney disease may not handle extra fluid well.

Vital Signs

Blood pressure, pulse and temperature help us spot a problem that needs more than a drip, such as an infection.

Lab Tests When Needed

If fatigue or other symptoms point to a cause, we may suggest labs like a blood panel or blood sugar before treating with vitamins.

Your IV Visit, Step by Step

  1. Check-in. Walk in or call ahead. Bring your ID and a list of your medicines and supplements.
  2. Quick health check. A provider reviews your history and vitals and confirms the IV or shot is a good fit for you.
  3. Line placement. A staff member cleans the skin and places a small catheter, usually in your arm or hand.
  4. The drip. You sit back while the fluid runs in. Basic hydration takes about 30 to 45 minutes.
  5. Aftercare. We remove the line and check how you feel. Keep drinking fluids, and call us if the IV spot turns red, warm or swollen.

Treatment

IV Hydration and Vitamin Therapy in Rosharon

IV fluids are a standard medical treatment for dehydration, and they work quickly because they skip the stomach. That’s the part with solid evidence behind it. The vitamin blends on our menu are optional extras, and research on wellness drips for healthy people is still limited.

We’d rather you spend your money where it helps. If you think you’re low on B12 or vitamin D, a lab test can confirm it. If you’re tired all the time, we’ll look for a reason, like anemia, thyroid trouble or poor sleep, instead of only treating the symptom.

  • Provider screening before every IV
  • Saline rehydration in about 30 to 45 minutes
  • B12, biotin, vitamin D and mixed vitamin shots
  • Posted self-pay menu prices
  • Labs to check for real deficiencies
  • Follow-up care for ongoing fatigue

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About IV Therapy

Still have questions?

Talk to our front office Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Call (832) 400-2050

Yes. Careprime Clinic at 15030 Highway 6 welcomes walk-ins Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with special Saturday hours from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Calling ahead at (832) 400-2050 lets us confirm the drip you want is available.

Our current self-pay menu starts at $129 for a 1-liter rehydration IV, with vitamin infusions from $150 to $170 and vitamin shots from $30 to $47. Prices can change and an office fee may apply, so confirm with our front office before your visit.

A basic rehydration IV takes about 30 to 45 minutes once the line is in. Plan a little extra time for check-in and the health screening. Vitamin shots take only a few minutes.

No. An IV can replace fluids if you’re dehydrated, and that may help you feel better, but it doesn’t clear alcohol from your body or prevent the harm from heavy drinking. Water, food, rest and time are still the main treatment.

For most healthy adults, an IV given by trained medical staff is low risk, but it isn’t risk-free. Possible problems include bruising, vein irritation, infection and, rarely, fluid overload or an allergic reaction. That’s why Careprime checks your health history and vital signs before every drip.

People with heart failure, kidney disease, some liver problems or high blood pressure that isn’t controlled may not handle extra fluid well. Pregnant patients and anyone taking several medicines should talk with a provider first. Our Rosharon team will tell you if an IV isn’t a good idea for you.

Wellness IVs and vitamin shots are usually self-pay. If you’re treated for dehydration from an illness during an office visit, part of that care may be billed to insurance depending on your plan. Careprime works with most plans, including BCBS, United Healthcare and Cigna, so ask us before your visit.

For mild dehydration, water or an oral electrolyte drink works well for most people. An IV helps most when vomiting keeps you from holding fluids down or when dehydration is more than mild. A Careprime provider can help you tell the difference.

B12 comes mostly from animal foods, so people on strict vegan diets often need a supplement, either by mouth or by shot. A blood test can show if your level is actually low. Signs of low B12 can include tiredness, weakness and memory trouble.

If vomiting or diarrhea has left you dehydrated and you can’t keep fluids down, IV fluids may help. Our providers in Rosharon will also check for signs you need more care, such as a high fever, blood in your stool or severe belly pain.

Eat a light meal and drink some water if you can, since being a little hydrated makes the vein easier to find. Wear a shirt with sleeves that roll up easily. Bring your ID and a list of your medicines and supplements.

The Energy drip contains B-complex vitamins and B12 in IV fluids. The Glow contains biotin and vitamin C, plus a push of glutathione. These are wellness add-ons, and evidence for energy or beauty benefits in healthy people is limited, so we’re glad to talk through whether one is worth it for you.
