What Older Patients and Caregivers Tell Us

A checkup makes sense any time something has changed, even if it seems small. New dizziness, a fall or a missed dose of medicine can be the first clue that a treatment plan needs a second look.

  • “Mom keeps forgetting whether she took her pills”
  • “My blood pressure readings at home have been high all week”
  • “Dad fell last month and didn’t tell anyone”
  • “I’m on six medicines and not sure I need all of them”
  • “My feet tingle and burn at night”
  • “I get lightheaded when I stand up too fast”
  • “I need my refills but driving is hard right now”
  • “My knees ache every single morning”

Changes worth mentioning at your next visit

  • New dizziness or unsteadiness
  • Weight change without trying
  • More trips to the bathroom at night
  • Trouble sleeping or low mood
  • Forgetting recent events or appointments
  • New aches, swelling or shortness of breath

Caregivers often notice these first. Write them down with the date they started and bring the list.

Where to go

Clinic, Video Visit or ER?

Diagnosis

How We Check Senior Health in Rosharon

Many routine tests for older adults can be done right in our Rosharon office. A normal result is good news, but it doesn’t rule out every problem, so we always pair numbers with how you’re feeling.

Your Visit, Step by Step

  1. Check-in. Walk in or book by phone or online. Bring your insurance card and every medication bottle, including vitamins and supplements.
  2. History and concerns. We go over your conditions, recent changes and anything a family member has noticed.
  3. Exam and vitals. Blood pressure, weight and a physical exam focused on your concerns.
  4. Labs or EKG if needed. Blood work, urine tests and EKGs can often be done during the same visit.
  5. Plan and follow-up. You leave with a clear plan, medication changes written down and a follow-up time, in person or by video.

Treatment

Senior Primary Care in Rosharon

Good senior care is mostly steady follow-up. We keep diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol on track, adjust medicines when your numbers or your daily life change, and look for problems before they turn into hospital visits.

We also make room for the topics people tend to skip, like a recent fall, trouble sleeping or worries about memory. When something needs a specialist, we explain why and help with the referral.

Bringing a family member or caregiver is often very helpful, especially for medication reviews or memory concerns. They can share changes they’ve noticed and help remember the plan. Let our front office know who is coming with you.

Yes, bring it up at your next visit even if you weren’t hurt. Falls can be linked to medicines, blood pressure drops, vision or balance problems. We look at possible causes and refer you for more help when needed. If you hit your head while on a blood thinner, go to the ER.

Mention it at your visit and bring someone who knows you well if you can. We’ll talk through what’s been happening, check for things that can affect memory such as medicines or infections, and arrange screening or a referral as appropriate.

Yes, a yearly flu shot is recommended for nearly everyone 6 months and older, and older adults face a higher risk of serious flu complications. Flu shots are available at Careprime Clinic in Rosharon, often during a regular visit.

It depends on the test. Some cholesterol and blood sugar tests may need fasting, while many others don’t. Ask our front office when you book, and keep taking your regular medicines unless your provider tells you otherwise.
